Slovakian Pork Dumplings
A hearty Slovakian dish featuring tender pork served with homemade dumplings.
Ingredients
- β500g Pork shoulderCut into 2cm cubes
- β250g Dumpling flourFor homemade dumplings
- β1 EggFor dumpling mixture
- β1 tsp SaltTo taste
- β0.5 tsp Black pepperTo taste
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β2 cloves GarlicMinced
- β1 tsp Caraway seedsFor flavor
- β2 tbsp Vegetable oilFor frying

In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Add the pork cubes and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the caraway seeds, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, mix together the dumpling flour, egg, and a pinch of salt.

Roll out the dumpling mixture to about 1cm thickness.

Cut the dumplings into desired shape (e.g., squares or circles).

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the dumplings for 5-7 minutes, or until they float.

Serve the pork with the cooked dumplings and garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in the pan and fry the cooked dumplings until crispy.
