Syrian Chicken Curry
A soothing and flavorful curry dish from Syria, made with chicken and a blend of spices.
Ingredients
- β1 lb chicken breastcut into 1-inch pieces
- β2 tsp curry powderstore-bought or homemade
- β2 tbsp ghee or vegetable oilfor sautΓ©ing
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1-inch piece gingergrated
- β1 cup chicken brothlow-sodium
- β1/2 cup heavy creamoptional
- β salt and pepperto taste
Instructions

Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Reduce heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil to the skillet.

Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the curry powder to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add the chicken broth to the skillet and bring to a simmer.

Return the chicken to the skillet and cook until the chicken is cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the heavy cream, if using. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the curry hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs, if desired.
