Spicy Egyptian Fish Tagine
A hearty German-inspired fish tagine with Egyptian spices and a spicy kick. Serve with a side of couscous or rice.
Ingredients
- β4 pieces Fish fillets (cod or tilapia)Fresh and sustainable
- β2 tbsp Light olive oilFor cooking
- β2 tsp Spicy Egyptian spice blendAvailable at Middle Eastern markets or online
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β1 can Diced tomatoes14 oz
- β2 cups Chicken brothLow sodium
- β Salt and pepperTo taste
- β1/4 cup Fresh parsleyChopped (optional)

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Add the fish fillets and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until browned.

Add the spicy Egyptian spice blend, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook, covered, for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
