Classic British Chicken Pie
A traditional British dish made with tender chicken and a rich, buttery pie crust. Perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- β1 pound chicken breastboneless and skinless
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flourfor dusting the chicken
- β4 tablespoons butterfor the pie crust and sauce
- β1 cup milkfor the pie filling and sauce
- β2 cups mashed potatoesfor the pie topping
- β1 medium onionfor the pie filling

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Dust the chicken with flour.

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned on both sides.

Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.

In the same pan, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the onion and cook until softened.

Add the milk to the pan and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens.

Add the cooked chicken back to the pan and stir to combine with the sauce.

Roll out the pie crust and place it in a pie dish.

Fill the pie crust with the chicken and sauce mixture.

Top the pie with mashed potatoes and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown.
