Smoky Algerian Chickpea Tagine
A hearty North African stew made with smoky spices, chickpeas, and a blend of aromatic herbs.
Ingredients
- β1 cup, drained and rinsed chickpeas
- β2 tsp algeriana blend of paprika, cumin, coriander, and cinnamon
- β1 tsp smokysmoked paprika
- β1 tsp livelyground ginger
- β2 tbsp olive oil
- β1 medium, chopped onion
- β2 cloves, minced garlic
- β1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- β1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- β2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions

Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chickpeas, algerian spice blend, smoky paprika, and lively ginger.

Stir to combine, then add 1 cup of water.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook, covered, until the flavors have melded together and the chickpeas are tender, about 20 minutes.

Stir in the chopped parsley and cilantro, and lemon juice.

Season the tagine with salt and pepper to taste.
