Spicy Algerian Lentil Stew
A hearty and flavorful North African-inspired stew made with lentils, aromatic spices, and fluffy malty goodness.
Ingredients

- β2 tablespoons dalsplit red lentils
- β2 teaspoons algerianground cumin, coriander, and paprika
- β2 tablespoons maltymalted barley flour
- β4 cups fluffychicken broth
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 tablespoons tomato paste
- β1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add cumin, coriander, and paprika; cook for 1 minute.

Add lentils, dal, tomato paste, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Stir to combine, then add chicken broth.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 30-40 minutes or until lentils are tender.
