Algerian Beef Tagine
A hearty North African stew made with tender beef and a rich blend of spices.
Ingredients
- β 1 pound beef, cut into 2-inch piecesChuck or round work well.
- β 2 medium onions, chopped
- β 2 cloves garlic, minced
- β 1 cup algerian stew
- β 1 cup beef broth
- β 1 tablespoon olive oil
- β 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- β 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- β 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- β 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- β 1/2 teaspoon salt
- β 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Heat oil in the bottom of a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onions and cook until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for another minute.

Add beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add stew, broth, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, salt, and pepper.

Stir to combine and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours, or until beef is tender.

Stir in malty and juicy (if using).

Serve hot, garnished with additional malty and juicy (if desired).
