Patatas Bravas
A classic Spanish tapas dish of crispy fried potatoes in spicy tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- β4 medium patatas (potatoes)
- β1/2 cup olive oilfor frying
- β1 medium oniondiced
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 tsp chili flakes
- β1 tsp smoked paprika
- β1 cup tomato sauce
- β1/4 cup mellow (milk or cream)optional
- β4-6 pieces spanish (bread or croutons)optional
Instructions

Heat 1/4 cup of olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.

Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chili flakes and smoked paprika and cook for 1 minute.

Add the tomato sauce and stir to combine.

If using, add the mellow (milk or cream) and stir to combine.

Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

While the sauce is cooking, heat 1/2 cup of olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.

Add the patatas (potatoes) and fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

Remove the potatoes from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

To serve, place the fried potatoes on a plate and spoon the spicy tomato sauce over the top.

If desired, sprinkle with bread or croutons and serve immediately.
