Uruguayan Beef Pie
A German-inspired twist on a classic beef pie, featuring crispy crust and savory Uruguayan flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground beef
- β1/2 pound, sliced Uruguayan chorizoOptional
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β1 teaspoon Caraway seedsTo taste
- β Salt and pepperTo taste
- β1 package Crispy pie crustHomemade or store-bought
- β1/4 cup Melted butter

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out the pie crust and place in a 9-inch pie dish.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the sliced chorizo, chopped onion, and caraway seeds to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.

Season the meat mixture with salt and pepper to taste.

Pour the meat mixture into the pie crust and spread it out evenly.

Dot the top of the pie with melted butter.

Cover the pie with another pie crust or a piece of aluminum foil and crimp the edges to seal.

Bake the pie for 25-30 minutes, then remove the foil or top crust and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
