Spotted Dick British Pudding
A traditional British steamed pudding made with suet and dried fruit, often served with custard.
Ingredients
- β1 cup self-raising flour
- β1/2 cup mildly sweet suet
- β1/2 cup dried fruit (raisins)
- β1 tsp spotted dick tea
- β1 tsp sugar
- β1 large eggs
- β1/2 cup milk
- β2 tbsp butter
- βpinch salt
Instructions

Preheat the steamer and bring to a boil.

Mix the flour, suet, dried fruit, spotted dick tea, and sugar in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and mix with the milk.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.

Add the butter and mix until the mixture is smooth.

Transfer the mixture to a greased pudding basin.

Cover the pudding with a piece of parchment paper and tie with string.

Place the pudding in the steamer and steam for 2 hours.
