Algerian Flatbread
A traditional Algerian flatbread recipe with a mildly yeasty flavor.
Ingredients
- β2 cups All-purpose flour
- β1 teaspoon (mild, active dry) Yeast
- β1/2 teaspoon Salt
- β1 cup (warm) Water
- β2 tablespoons Olive oil
Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and yeast.

Gradually add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

Divide the dough into 4-6 equal pieces, depending on desired flatbread size.

Roll out each piece into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick.

Brush with olive oil and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until lightly browned and puffed.
