Traditional Ukrainian Dumplings
A hearty and flavorful Ukrainian-inspired dish featuring mildly yeasty dumplings filled with a savory mixture of dough and served with a side of tangy accompaniments.
Ingredients

- β1 cup warm water
- β1 teaspoon yeastmildly active
- β2 cups doughhomemade or store-bought
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- β1 egg eggsbeaten
- β2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- β1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Add the all-purpose flour, salt, and vegetable oil to the bowl. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/4 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

Place a tablespoon of dough in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to form a half-circle and press the edges together to seal.
