Slovakian Mincemeat Tart
A traditional Slovakian dessert featuring a flaky crust filled with sweet and tangy mincemeat.
Ingredients
- β2 cups All-purpose flourGluten-free option: substitute with almond flour
- β1 cup Cold unsalted butter
- β1 cup Mincemeat
- β1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- β1 Large egg
- β1/4 cup Tart coconut flakes
- β2 tablespoons Moist brown sugar
- β1/4 teaspoon Crack of salt

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large bowl, combine flour, cold butter, and salt. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Transfer the dough to a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.

Trim the edges and press the dough into the corners of the pan.

In a separate bowl, mix together mincemeat, granulated sugar, egg, tart coconut flakes, and moist brown sugar.

Pour the mincemeat mixture into the tart shell.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
