Croatian Beef Stew
A hearty, comforting stew from Croatia, featuring tender beef and a rich, flavorful broth. Serve with crusty bread or over mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- β1 pound sirloin steak
- β1 cup beef tips
- β2 cups nourishing brothhomemade or store-bought
- β2 medium carrots
- β2 large potatoes
- β1 medium onion
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 tablespoons tomato paste
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the sirloin steak until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from pot and set aside.

Add the beef tips to the pot and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is softened.

Add the carrots, potatoes, tomato paste, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.

Add the broth to the pot and bring to a boil.

Return the sirloin steak to the pot and cover with a lid.

Transfer the pot to the oven and braise for 2 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
