Croatian Pork Stew
A hearty, comforting stew made with tender pork and a blend of Croatian spices.
Ingredients
- β1.5 kg Pork Shoulder
- β1 Onion
- β2 Carrot
- β2 stalks Celery
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β2 tbsp Paprika
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Black Pepper
- β250 ml Red Wine
- β2 tbsp Tomato Paste

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the pork shoulder until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the pork and set aside.

Add the onion, carrot, and celery to the pot and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.

Add the garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the red wine to the pot and stir to deglaze, scraping up any browned bits.

Return the pork to the pot and add the tomato paste.

Bring the stew to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.

Bake the stew at 150Β°C (300Β°F) for 2 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Serve the stew hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
