Ukrainian Puff Pastry Tagine
A savory twist on traditional French puff pastry tart, featuring a Ukrainian-inspired filling. Perfect for a light dinner or snack.
Ingredients
- β1 sheet, thawed puff pastry
- β1 cup, sliced ukrainian sausage
- β1 cup, shredded morbier cheese
- β1 medium, chopped onion
- β3 cloves, minced garlic
- β1 cup, sliced lamb's liver
- β2 tsp tagine spice mix
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
Roll out puff pastry to a thickness of 1/8 inch (3 mm). Cut into a rectangle, about 12 inches x 8 inches (30 cm x 20 cm).
- 3
In a large skillet, cook the Ukrainian sausage over medium-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes.
- 4
Add the sliced lamb's liver to the skillet and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- 5
Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- 6
Sprinkle the shredded Morbier cheese over the top of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch (2.5 cm) border around the edges.
- 7
Add the cooked sausage and liver mixture on top of the cheese, spreading it evenly.
- 8
Fold the edges of the pastry up over the filling, pressing gently to seal.
- 9
Use a sharp knife to cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- 10
Brush the top crust with a little water and sprinkle with tagine spice mix.
- 11
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- 12
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
