Portuguese Chickpea Fritters
A crispy and flavorful Portuguese-inspired fritter recipe made with chickpeas and nutty flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 cups chickpeas, drained and rinsedcanned
- β1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- β1 cup nutty portuguese bread, cubedabout 2 slices
- β1 fritters, egg
- β1/4 tsp salt
- β1/4 tsp black pepper
- β1/4 cup olive oilfor frying

In a large bowl, mash the chickpeas using a fork or a potato masher.

Add the flour, nutty bread, egg, salt, and black pepper to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.

Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.

Using a spoon, drop small balls of the dough mixture into the hot oil, about 1/4 cup each.

Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
