Nutty German Bao
Soft, fluffy bao filled with a sweet and crunchy German-inspired nut filling.
Ingredients
- β2 cups flour
- β1 cup warm water
- β1 tablespoon sugar
- β1 package velvetystore-bought cream cheese frosting
- β1 cup nuttychopped hazelnuts or pecans
- β1 cup germanchopped pretzels
- β4 bun
- β1/4 teaspoon salt

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and warm water to form a dough.

2. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and shape into balls.

4. Flatten each ball into a disk and place a tablespoon of sugar in the center.

5. Fold the dough over the sugar to form a bun shape.

6. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

7. Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 15-20 minutes.

8. While the buns are baking, mix together the velvety and nutty ingredients in a bowl.

9. Once the buns are done, let them cool for 5 minutes before slicing in half.

10. Spread a layer of the velvety mixture on the bottom half of each bun.

12. Drizzle with a little bit of german glaze (store-bought or homemade).
