Irish Soda Bread
A traditional Irish bread made with buttermilk, often served with butter or jam.
Ingredients
- β2 cups oatmeal
- β2 cups crumbly bread
- β1 teaspoon soda
- β4 tablespoons butter
- β1 cup buttermilk
- β1 teaspoon salt

1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

2. In a large bowl, combine oatmeal, crumbly bread, soda, and salt.

3. Add butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in buttermilk.

5. Mix the dough until it comes together in a sticky ball.

6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes.

7. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet.

8. Cut a cross in the top of the loaf and bake for 35-40 minutes.
