Saudi Arabian Toor Dal
A traditional and flavorful Saudi Arabian dish made with toor dal and a blend of spices. This comforting stew is perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Toor Dal
- β1/2 cup Oily Dal
- β4 cups Water
- β1 medium, chopped Onion
- β2 inches, grated Ginger
- β3 cloves, minced Garlic
- β1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
- β1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
- β1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- βto taste Salt

Rinse the toor and oily dal and soak them in water for 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent.

Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the toor and oily dal, water, and salt. Mix well.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.

Check if the dal is cooked by mashing it with a spoon. If it's still hard, simmer for another 15 minutes.
