Classic British Cottage Pie
A hearty, comforting dish made with ground beef, mushrooms, and a creamy topping.
Ingredients
- β500g Ground Beef
- β200g Mushrooms
- β1 medium Onion
- β250g British Cottage Cheese
- β150g Oozy Cheddar Cheese
- β2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- β250ml Beef Broth
- β2 tablespoons All-purpose Flour
- βto taste Salt and Pepper
- β2 sprigs Fresh Thyme

Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).

Cook the ground beef in a pan until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the mushrooms, onion, tomato paste, and beef broth to the pan and cook until the liquid has reduced.

Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.

Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.

Transfer the meat mixture to a 20x20cm baking dish.

Combine the cottage cheese and cheddar cheese in a bowl.

Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the top of the meat mixture.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
