Classic Italian Lasagna
A traditional Italian dish made with layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese.
Ingredients
- ●8-10 sheets Lasagna noodles
- ●1 pound Italian sausage, casings removedCook to 160°F (71°C)
- ●1 pound Ground porkCook to 160°F (71°C)
- ●2 cups Oozy mozzarella cheese, shreddedMelt to 120°F (49°C)
- ●1 cup Molten parmesan cheese, gratedMelt to 120°F (49°C)
- ●1 medium Onion, finely chopped
- ●3 cloves Garlic, minced
- ●2 cups Canned crushed tomatoes
- ●1 tablespoon Dried basil
- ●1 teaspoon Salt
- ●1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions.

In a large skillet, cook Italian sausage and ground pork over medium-high heat, breaking up with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 10-15 minutes.

In a large bowl, combine mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Stir until well combined.

Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top.

Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat the layers, starting with the meat sauce, noodles, and finally the remaining cheese mixture.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
