Vietnamese Beef Stew
A hearty and flavorful Vietnamese-inspired beef stew, perfect for a chilly evening. This dish combines tender beef, vegetables, and aromatic spices for a truly satisfying meal.
Ingredients

- β1 teaspoon ground cinnamonoptional
- β1 teaspoon ground cuminoptional

- β2 whole star aniseoptional

Preheat oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Season the beef with salt and pepper.

In a large Dutch oven, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add another tablespoon of oil to the pot and cook the onion and garlic until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Stir in the fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, and star anise.

Return the beef to the pot and add enough beef broth to cover the beef.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.

Braise the stew for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the beef is tender.
