Parsnip Jalebi Fry
A spicy and sweet twist on the classic Indian street food, Jalebi. By substituting the traditional fermented batter with a simple parsnip and spice mixture, we create a crispy and addictive snack.
Ingredients
- β2 medium Parsnippeeled and grated
- β1 packet Jalebi batter (store-bought)note: use the powdered mix only
- β1/4 cup Rice flourfor dusting
- β2 tablespoons Lemon juicefreshly squeezed
- β1 teaspoon Ginger pastestore-bought or homemade
- β1/2 teaspoon Garlic pastestore-bought or homemade
- β1 teaspoon Red chili powderadjust to taste
- β1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powderstore-bought or homemade
- β1/4 teaspoon Saltadjust to taste
- β1/2 cup Oil for fryingvegetable or canola oil

In a large bowl, mix together the grated parsnip, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt.

Gradually add the store-bought jalebi batter powder to the bowl and mix until the parsnip mixture is well coated.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

Using a slotted spoon, drop small amounts of the parsnip-jalebi mixture into the hot oil.

Fry the jalebi until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the jalebi from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Repeat the frying process with the remaining parsnip-jalebi mixture.
