Tunisian Pear Tagine
A comforting and sweet stew originating from Tunisia, made with tender pears and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- β2 Pearsany variety, but firmer pears work best
- β2 inches Gingerfresh ginger, peeled and sliced
- β1 tsp Cinnamonground cinnamon
- β1 tsp Allspiceground allspice
- β2 tbsp Honeyadjust to taste
- β1/4 cup Almondssliced or slivered
- β2 tbsp Unsalted Buttermelted
- βto taste Salt
- β1 cup Water

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Peel, core, and slice the pears into 1-inch pieces.

In a large Dutch oven or heavy pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the sliced ginger and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Add the cinnamon, allspice, and salt; cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add the sliced pears, honey, and water to the pot.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pears are tender and the liquid has thickened into a syrup.

Stir in the sliced almonds and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serve the tagine warm, topped with additional almonds and honey if desired.
