Venezuelan-Style Fried Plantain Empanadas
A crispy, savory empanada filled with sweet plantains, a classic Venezuelan street food. Serve as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients

- ●1 package (homemade or store-bought) Empanada dough
- ●2 cups Vegetable oilfor frying

Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch pieces.

Heat about 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

Mix the plantain pieces with a pinch of salt and fry until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes).

While the plantains are frying, preheat a baking sheet in the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the empanada dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or glass.

Place a few pieces of fried plantain in the center of each dough circle.

Fold the dough in half to form a half-circle and press the edges together to seal.
