Crispy Satay Tofu
A popular Malaysian dish, this recipe combines the crunch of satay with the simplicity of tofu. A perfect snack for any occasion.
Ingredients
- β1 block (14 oz) firm tofudrained and cut into 1-inch cubes
- β1/2 cup coconut milkfull-fat for best results
- β1/4 cup peanut oilfor frying
- β1/4 cup satay saucestore-bought or homemade
- β1 cup crispy ricefor garnish
- β1/4 cup chopped peanutsfor garnish
- β4 lime wedgesfor serving
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
Instructions

1. In a shallow dish, whisk together coconut milk and satay sauce.

2. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and toss to coat.

3. Heat 2 tablespoons of peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

4. Remove the tofu from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.

5. Fry the tofu until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

6. Remove the tofu from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

7. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of peanut oil.

8. Reduce heat to medium and add the crispy rice. Cook, stirring frequently, until lightly toasted.

9. To serve, place a few pieces of fried tofu on a plate, top with toasted crispy rice, and garnish with chopped peanuts and a lime wedge.
