Slovakian-Style Braised Pork Tacos
A twist on traditional Mexican tacos, featuring slow-cooked Slovakian-style braised pork, served with warm flour tortillas and crispy dumplings.
Ingredients
- β1.5 pounds pork shouldercut into 2-inch pieces
- β1 large onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 tablespoon caraway seeds
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β1 cup chicken broth
- β2 tablespoons tomato paste
- β1 teaspoon cumin
- β1/2 teaspoon paprika
- β1 package dumpling mix
- β6-8 flour tortillas

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the pork pieces on all sides, then remove from pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the caraway seeds, flour, chicken broth, tomato paste, cumin, and paprika.

Stir to combine, then return the pork to the pot.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer to the oven.

Braise the pork for 2 1/2 hours, or until tender.

While the pork is cooking, prepare the dumplings according to the package instructions.

When the pork is done, remove from the oven and stir in the cooked dumplings.

Warm the flour tortillas by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.
