- β2 tablespoons butter
- β1 medium onion
- β8 ounces mushrooms
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β1 cup milk
- β1 cup rich pie filling
- β2 cups mashfor serving
- β1 sheet pie dough
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
- 2
In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add the mushrooms to the pan and cook until they release their liquid and start to brown, about 5 minutes.
- 4
Add the chicken to the pan and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Add the flour to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- 6
Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously, and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 7
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8
Stir in the pie filling and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- 9
Roll out the pie dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Place the dough over the filling and trim the edges to fit.
- 10
Crimp the edges of the pie crust to seal and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- 11
Brush the top of the pie crust with a little bit of milk and bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- 12
Serve the pie with a side of mash.
