- β1/2 cup Onionfinely chopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 tsp Cumin
- β1 tsp Paprika
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- β1 Egg
- β2 cups Flour
- β1/2 cup Water
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
- 2
In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- 3
Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the pan and continue to cook until the onion is translucent.
- 4
Let the mixture cool slightly, then stir in the beaten egg.
- 5
In a large bowl, combine the flour and water to form a dough. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- 6
Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- 7
On a lightly floured surface, use a rolling pin to flatten each ball of dough into a circle.
- 8
Place a tablespoon or two of the beef mixture onto the center of each dough circle, then brush the edges with a little water.
- 9
Fold the dough in half to form a half-circle and press the edges together to seal the empanada. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
- 10
Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with a little water.
- 11
Bake the empanadas in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
