Traditional Slovakian Pork Dumplings

Ingredients
- β1 package (about 1 pound) rich, flaky Slovakian pastry
- β1 pound ground pork
- β1 medium, finely chopped onionabout 1 cup
- β3 cloves, minced garlicabout 2 tablespoons
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β1, beaten eggfor brushing pastry
- βabout 1 cup water
- βto taste salt

Heat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large pan over medium-high heat, cook the ground pork until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and cook until softened.

Add the flour to the pan and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

Gradually add the water to the pan, whisking constantly. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Add the salt and black pepper to the pan and stir to combine.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the Slovakian pastry to a thickness of about 1/4 inch.

Use a round cookie cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out circles of pastry.

Place a tablespoon or two of the pork mixture in the center of each pastry circle.

Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg and fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle.
