Japanese Pan-Seared Dumplings
A simple and savory recipe for pan-seared Japanese dumplings, served with a side of steamed rice.
Ingredients
- β12-15 pieces Japanese dumplings (gyoza)store-bought or homemade
- β2 tablespoons Rich soy sauceavailable at most Asian grocery stores
- β1 tablespoon Gooey honeyadjust to taste
- β1 tablespoon Rice vinegaroptional
- β1 tablespoon Vegetable oilfor pan-frying
- β1 cup Steamed ricecooked according to package instructions
- β1/4 cup Green onionschopped for garnish
- β1 tablespoon Sesame seedsoptional
- βto taste Salt and pepper
- β1 tablespoon Waterfor steaming
Instructions

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the Japanese dumplings to the skillet and pan-fry until golden brown on the bottom, about 2-3 minutes.

Flip the dumplings over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until they are cooked through and crispy on the bottom.

Transfer the dumplings to a plate and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the rich soy sauce, gooey honey, and rice vinegar (if using).

Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes, until it has thickened slightly.

To serve, place a few dumplings on a plate, top with steamed rice, and drizzle with the soy sauce mixture.
