Cantonese Beef Toast
A Chinese-inspired dish featuring tender beef and crispy toast, served with a sweet and savory sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Beef (sirloin)thinly sliced
- β2 tablespoons Light soy saucefor marinating
- β2 tablespoons Rich hoisin saucefor glazing
- β1 tablespoon Spanish olive oilfor brushing
- β4 slices Toast (white bread)for serving
- β1/4 cup Scallions (green onions)chopped (optional)
- β1/4 cup Sesame seedsfor garnish (optional)
- β1 tablespoon Gingerminced (for marinade)
- β1 clove Garlicminced (for marinade)

1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

2. In a large bowl, whisk together light soy sauce, hoisin sauce, olive oil, ginger, and garlic. Add the sliced beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

3. Remove the beef from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.

4. Brush both sides of the toast with olive oil and toast in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until crispy.

5. In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to desired level of doneness.

6. Assemble the dish by placing a slice of toasted bread on each plate, topping with a few slices of beef, and garnishing with scallions and sesame seeds (if using).
