Classic Canadian Beef Lasagna
A hearty, comforting dish featuring rich, roasted beef and layers of lasagna noodles, rich cheese and tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef80/20 lean to fat ratio works best for this recipe
- β8-10 sheets Lasagna
- β1 cup, shredded Rich, Roasted BeefUse leftover roast beef or roast in oven at 300Β°F for 2-3 hours
- β2 cups Tomato Sauce
- β1 cup, shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- β1/2 cup, grated Parmesan Cheese
- β1/4 cup, chopped Basil
- β2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

Preheat oven to 375Β°F.

Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions.

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up with a spoon as needed.

Add tomato sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.

In a separate bowl, combine shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, create a thin layer of tomato sauce.

Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top of sauce.

Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over noodles, followed by half of the shredded cheese mixture.

Repeat the layers, starting with noodles, then sauce, then cheese.

Top with remaining cheese and cover with foil.

Bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
