Traditional British Bangers and Mash
A hearty British dish featuring pork sausages and mashed potatoes. A comforting meal that's perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- β4 pork sausagesBritish-style sausages
- β3 potatoeslarge
- β1 onionmedium
- β2 cloves garlic
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β1/4 cup milk
- β2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- β1 teaspoon gravy granules

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

2. While the potatoes cook, heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

3. Add the sausages to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

4. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.

5. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and add the sliced onion.

6. Cook the onion until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

7. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.

8. Add the flour to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.

9. Gradually add the milk to the skillet, whisking continuously.

10. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

11. Add the cooked sausages back to the skillet and stir to coat with the gravy.

12. Drain the cooked potatoes and mash with butter and milk.

13. Serve the sausages with the mashed potatoes and spoon some of the onion gravy over the top.
