Greek Beef Stifado
A hearty Greek beef stew made with tender beef, onions, garlic, and a rich sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 lb beefthinly sliced
- β2 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1/4 cup Greek yogurtoptional
- β2 tbsp all-purpose flourfor thickening
- β2 tbsp olive oilfor cooking
- β1 cup beef brothhomemade or store-bought
- β2 tbsp red wine vinegaroptional
Instructions

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the beef broth, flour, and optional red wine vinegar to the pan.

Stir to combine and bring to a boil.

Return the browned beef to the pan and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, or until the meat is tender.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley or dill, if desired.

Optional: stir in the Greek yogurt before serving for a creamy sauce.
