Traditional Slovakian Beef Goulash
A hearty, comforting Slovakian dish made with rich beef broth and tender dumplings. Perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- β500g Ground beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β2 tablespoons All-purpose flourfor thickening
- β2 teaspoons Paprikasweet or smoked
- β1 teaspoon Caraway seedsoptional
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1.5 liters Beef brothrich and beefy
- β4-6 Dumplingshomemade or store-bought

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent.

Add the paprika, caraway seeds, and flour to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually add the beef broth to the pot, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add the dumplings to the pot and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until they are cooked through.

Season the goulash with salt and pepper to taste.
