German Beef Casserole
A hearty German-inspired beef casserole made with richly flavored ground beef and a blend of spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef85% lean ground beef
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β2 cloves Garlicminced
- β8 ounces Mushroomssliced
- β14.5 ounces Canned Tomatoescrushed
- β1 cup Beef Brothlow-sodium
- β2 teaspoons German Seasoningdried
- β1 teaspoon Saltto taste
- β1/2 teaspoon Black Pepperto taste
- β1/2 cup Breadcrumbsplain

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the onion, garlic, and mushrooms to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are softened.

Stir in the canned tomatoes, beef broth, German seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let cook for 5 minutes.

Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.

Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is hot and bubbly.

Serve the casserole hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
