Ukrainian Spiced Apple Tagine
A warm and aromatic stew originating from Ukraine, this tagine combines the sweetness of apples with the rich flavors of spices.

- β1 medium onionChopped
- β1 lb richly spiced ukrainian sausageSliced
- β2 tsp tagine spice blendAvailable at most Middle Eastern markets
- β1 tsp cinnamonGround
- β1/2 tsp nutmegGround
- β1/2 tsp saltTo taste
- β1/4 tsp black pepperTo taste
- β2 tbsp olive oilFor cooking

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add sausage and cook, breaking up with a spoon, until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 8 minutes.

Add tagine spice blend, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper; cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.

Add apples and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly tender, about 5 minutes.

Transfer pot to the oven and cook, covered, at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 30 minutes.
