Smoky Indian Chicken Biryani
A flavorful and aromatic Indian-inspired dish that combines the richness of smoky spices with the tender taste of chicken.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Boneless, skinless chicken breastcut into 1-inch pieces
- β2 cups Basmati riceuncooked
- β2 teaspoons Smoky garam masalastore-bought or homemade
- β1 teaspoon Roasted cumin powder
- β1/2 teaspoon Salt
- β1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
- β1 cup Yogurtplain, unflavored

1. Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer and soak it in 3 cups of water for 30 minutes.

2. Drain the water and set the rice aside.

3. In a large bowl, combine the chicken, garam masala, cumin powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly.

4. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

5. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.

6. In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.

7. Add the soaked rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with oil.

8. Add 3 cups of water to the saucepan and bring to a boil.

9. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.
