Malaysian Doraji Satay
A sweet and savory satay dish using caramelized doraji and a hint of Malaysian spices.
Ingredients
- β1 bunch DorajiCaramelized
- β1/4 cup Roasted peanutsChopped
- β1 medium Sweet potatoGrated
- β2 tbsp Malaysian satay sauceStore-bought or homemade
- β2 cloves BellflowerMinced
- β2 tbsp Vegetable oilFor brushing

Soak 20 bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.

Cut the doraji into 1-inch pieces and set aside.

In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.

Add the grated sweet potato and cook for 5 minutes until slightly caramelized.

Add the minced bellflower and cook for another minute.

Add the caramelized doraji to the pan and stir to combine.

Brush the bamboo skewers with the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

Thread the doraji mixture onto the bamboo skewers.

Brush the satay sauce onto the skewers during the last 2 minutes of grilling.

Grill the skewers over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side, or until slightly charred.

Serve the satay warm with roasted peanuts and additional satay sauce if desired.
