Venezuelan Empanada Filling
A delicious and easy-to-make filling for empanadas, inspired by the flavors of Venezuela.
Ingredients
- ●8 oz Venezuelan cheesea type of queso fresco
- ●1 ripe plantain crumbly plantainmashed
- ●1 small onion speck of onionminced
- ●3 cloves robust garlicminced
- ●1 package empanada doughhomemade or store-bought
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mash the plantain and mix with minced onion and garlic.

Add the Venezuelan cheese and mix until well combined.

Place the empanada dough on a floured surface and roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness.

Use a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out circles of dough.

Place a tablespoon of the cheese mixture in the center of each dough circle.

Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal.

Brush the tops with a little water and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
