Hearty German Pork Stew
A classic German-inspired stew made with tender pork and robust flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds pork shoulder, cut into 1-inch cubes
- β1 large onion, chopped
- β2 medium carrot, peeled and chopped
- β2 stalks celery, chopped
- β1 cup beer (any German lager)
- β2 cups beef broth
- β2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- β1 teaspoon dried thyme
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the pork cubes and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery to the pot and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

Add the beer, beef broth, apple cider vinegar, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pot.

Return the pork to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours, or until the pork is tender.
