Traditional Ukrainian Cabbage Stew
A hearty and flavorful Ukrainian-inspired cabbage stew made with fermented sauerkraut and robust Ukrainian sausage.
Ingredients
- β1 lb Ukrainian Sausagelook for a robust, fermented sausage
- β1 head Cabbageshredded or chopped
- β1 large Onionchopped
- β1 tsp Saltto taste
- β1 tsp Black Pepperto taste
- β1 tsp Caraway Seedsoptional
- β2 Dried Bay Leavesoptional
- β4 cups Beef Brothlow-sodium

Brown the Ukrainian sausage in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Remove the sausage from the pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the shredded cabbage to the pot and cook until it starts to wilt, about 5 minutes.

Add the beef broth, caraway seeds, and bay leaves to the pot.

Return the Ukrainian sausage to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20-25 minutes.
