Venezuelan Breakfast Patties (Cachapas)
Traditional Venezuelan breakfast dish made with cornmeal pancakes filled with melted cheese. A hearty and delicious start to your day.
Ingredients
- β2 cups Yellow Masarepa
- β1 cup, shredded Salty Cheese
- β1/2 cup, shredded Quesadilla Cheese
- β4 Eggs
- β2 cups Water
- β2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper
Instructions

Combine masarepa and water in a large bowl. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

Add eggs, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well.

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, scoop the mixture onto the skillet.

Cook for 4-5 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown.

Flip the patties and cook for another 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.

Meanwhile, melt the cheese in a saucepan over low heat.

Assemble the cachapas by placing a spoonful of cheese on top of a cooked patty.

Fold the patty in half to enclose the cheese.
