Cod Fritters with Savory Batter
A traditional Portuguese recipe where cod is mixed with a savory batter and deep-fried to perfection.
Ingredients
- β4 Cod filletsFresh or frozen, thawed
- β2 cups Savory batter mixOr make your own batter with flour, salt, pepper, and herbs
- β1 cup FlourAll-purpose flour
- β1 cup BreadcrumbsPanko or plain
- β2 EggsBeaten
- β1 cup MilkWhole milk
- β1 tsp SaltTo taste
- β1 tsp Black pepperTo taste

Cut cod into small pieces and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together savory batter mix, flour, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.

Add cod pieces to the bowl and mix until well coated.

Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.

When the oil is hot, drop small amounts of the cod mixture into the oil.

Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
