Braised Malai Crumble Beef Stew
A hearty, comforting stew that combines the rich flavors of Ukraine with the warm spices of India. Perfect for a cold winter's night.
Ingredients
- β1 pound beef (stew meat)cut into 1-inch cubes
- β1 large savory onionschopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 teaspoons malai curry powderstore-bought or homemade
- β1/4 cup crumble breadcrumbsplain or seasoned
- β2 cups beef brothlow sodium
- β1/4 cup red wine (optional)optional
- β2 tablespoons tomato pasteconcentrated
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flourfor thickening

Heat a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Stir in the curry powder and cook for 1 minute.

Add the beef broth, red wine (if using), and tomato paste.

Return the beef to the pot and bring to a boil.
