Pan-Seared Norwegian Dumplings with Cornmeal Crunch
A hearty Nordic dish featuring tender dumplings and a satisfying crunch from the cornmeal. Perfect for a cold winter evening.
Ingredients
- β1 package (12 count) Norwegian dumhomemade or store-bought
- β1 cup Cornmealfine or medium grind
- β2 tablespoons Shatteringsuch as panko or crushed crackers
- β2 tablespoons Bittersuch as chopped dark chocolate or cocoa powder
- β1 cup Water
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

In a large mixing bowl, combine the Norwegian dum and 1 cup of water. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the dum to absorb the liquid.

In a separate bowl, mix together the cornmeal, shattering, and bitter.

Once the dum has absorbed the liquid, squeeze out excess water and add the dum to the cornmeal mixture. Mix well.

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

Using your hands, shape the dum mixture into 6-8 patties.
