Portuguese Dough Fritters
A crispy and delicious dessert originating from Portugal. Made with a simple dough and topped with a sweet glaze.
Ingredients
- ●1 package (active dry yeast, 2 1/4 teaspoons) Dough1 cup warm water, 3 tablespoons sugar, 4 cups all-purpose flour

In a large mixing bowl, combine yeast, warm water, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until yeast is activated.

Add flour to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan to 375°F (190°C).

Once the oil is hot, add the cubed bread and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the bread from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and water to make the glaze.
