Vietnamese Pho
A traditional Vietnamese noodle soup made with a rich beef broth and served with tender beef and rice noodles. Pho is a comforting and flavorful dish that is perfect for a cold day.
Ingredients
- β2 lbs Beef bonesYou can use beef neck bones or oxtail for a richer broth
- β1 package Rice noodlesYou can find rice noodles at most Asian markets
- β2 tbsp Pho spice mixYou can make your own pho spice mix with cinnamon, star anise, and cloves
- β2 tbsp Vietnamese oyster sauceYou can omit this if you don't have it or prefer not to use it
- β1 lb Beef brisket or chuckYou can use either beef brisket or chuck for this recipe
- β1 cup sliced MushroomsYou can use any type of mushroom you like
- β1 medium OnionYou can use either a yellow onion or a white onion
- β2 inches GingerYou can use either fresh or frozen ginger

1. In a large pot, char the onion and ginger over medium heat until they are caramelized.

2. Add the beef bones to the pot and cook for 5 minutes.

3. Add 4 cups of water to the pot and bring to a boil.

4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour.

5. Strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean pot.

6. Add the pho spice mix, oyster sauce, and mushrooms to the pot.

7. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.

8. Slice the beef against the grain and add it to the pot.

10. Cook the rice noodles according to the package instructions.
